The mission of our team is to understand the contribution of natural bioactive small molecules and metabolites to nutrition and human metabolism. We use state-of-the-art technologies such as nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and mass spectrometry to directly monitor these molecules in biological systems. We are particularly interested in studying the concerted effects of multiple bioactives on metabolism in cellular, pre-clinical and clinical studies.

Key Goals

  • Develop and enhance our NMR- and MS-based metabolomics platform and associated computational workflows.
  • Contribute to understanding metabolism through analysis of metabolites in corresponding metabolic pathways.
  • Understand metabolism and activity of bioactives through systems biology approaches.
  • Find novel bioactives and identify new biomarkers for improved health.
