Group Head: Vera Steullet, Ph.D. Contact

The mission of the Digital Nutrition and Health group at the Nestlé Institute of Health Sciences is to translate scientific knowledge into digital technologies that empower consumers and businesses to reach better nutrition, health, and wellness.

By using leading-edge digital technologies and state-of-the-art computational techniques, powered by solid science, the Digital Nutrition and Health group delivers solutions tailored to the needs of every end-user.

The group works closely with scientists at the Nestlé Institute of Health Sciences and across Nestlé R&D to design digital solutions around the prevention of micronutrient deficiencies and non-communicable diseases such as obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and others, through better nutritional choices.

The group uses agile methodologies to deliver continuous improvement and adapt to constantly evolving scientific and technological knowledge, as well as business and consumer needs.

Key Goals

  • To build a digital platform allowing users to track the impact of nutritional and lifestyle choices on health.
  • To make nutrition accessible by bringing professional nutritional and lifestyle assessment methods to the consumer in an easy and friendly form.
  • To build and validate data-driven algorithms that can be used to interactively optimize diets for individuals at different life stages, activity levels, physiological and health states.
  • To support our internal and external partners in building digital solutions based on our novel algorithms and those we develop through collaborations.
